MAJOR PAPER
September 7 – 11, 2015
Seminar Overview

Fieldtrip and Seminar is a subject in our curriculum wherein students with 3rd Year Standing are allowed to enroll.  At first, we were given the chance to choose which model we want to have and majority of us chose the model A which is comprised of 1 seminar, 1 minor fieldtrip inside Mindanao and 1 major fieldtrip outside Mindanao. We had Maynilad Tours & Educational Services Inc. to help us arrange our appointments for the companies that we chose for our major fieldtrip in Metro Manila which is set on September 7-11, 2015. They arranged our schedule and gave us our final itinerary. We will be attending a lot of seminars that are connected to our course and will be visiting companies that are using IT technologies.

For our first day, we will be visiting DOST at Bicutan, Taguig in the morning and after lunch we will be visiting the Social Security System located at East Avenua, Quezon City. For the second day, we will be visiting the IBM Philippines at Ayala Techno-Hub, Quezon City then we will be visiting The Accenture Inc. in the afternoon, we will be having our dinner at the Great eastern Hotel in Makati City. On our third day, we are scheduled to attend the Y4IT convention/seminar at SMX, MOA. We will have our shopping and mall in the afternoon, we will be given a meal allowance so that we can have our own dinner, no need to gather. On our fourth day, we will be visiting the MMDA Traffic engineering located EDSA, Makati City. After lunch, we will be visiting the People's Park, Tagaytay City then we will proceed to the Enchanted Kingdom to have fun. On our fifth day, we will be visiting the UP department of Computer Science, UP, Quezon City and shopping in the afternoon before going back to Davao.

Day 1

On our first day, our flight to Manila was 6:15 in the morning so we were expected to be the airport two hours before. I slept early before that day so that I can wake up early to with enough sleep. Most of us are first timers to ride a plane, so most of them are very excited to their first plane ride. Another reason why I slept early that day because starting day 1, it will be full of enjoyments and trips up to day 5 and again we will be staying at Manila so we should always travel early to avoid heavy traffics. I arrived at the airport at almost 5 o'clock in the morning, together with my classmates. It such an amazing experience where you can ride a plane together with your classmates. When we finally arrived at Ninoy International Airport III, I thank God because all of us were safe and sound. I was really happy that day. We were welcomed by our travel agency which is the Maynilad Travel and Educational Tours. We ate our breakfast at Mcdonalds beside the Airport so we can eat our breakfast early and to get ready for our first company visit, DOST, in Bicutan, Taguig.
Today, I went on a seminar to..
On our first day, on our Itinerary, we will be visiting two companies. The first company that we visited was the DOST or the Department of Science and Technology located at Bicutan, Taguig, and after lunch  we will be attending a seminar to the Social Security System or the SSS located at East Avenue, Quezon City.
What I learned?
I learned many things during our seminar in DOST and in SSS. In DOST, I learned about the project NOAH. The speaker in DOST shared to us a presentation about project NOAH and the problems of nature we are encountering every day. He showed how it works and he also presented some developments and the updated project NOAH. On the other hand, I learned many things in SSS on how they are protecting the files and information of their clients. They also shared about what SSS do and how do they do it.
What I liked?
I like the DOST company simply because they introduced us formally and discussed to us important information that we, students must know. I also like DOST because it also known as the home of the National Scientist. The speaker is not boring and the best thing about him is that he can also speaks bisaya. They also shared to us about what the current issues they are facing today and on how we can greatly help them by developing or constructing innovative and creative ideas.
On the other hand, I like SSS because their company was very clean and they also introduced us formally. I like the way they accommodated us even. They prepared and simple and interesting presentation to us and they will give a prize, a SSS color gold pen, to those who can answer their questions about their presentation. I like their discussion because it was all about how they handle all of the files of their clients. They also discussed the security of their files. It was really nice back there and I also like their huge building.
What I didn’t like?
What I didn't like in DOST is that the presentation and the discussion was a bit fast and short. Though the speaker discussed to us the important things we must know connected to our course, he didn't explain it very well because the time was limited.

On the other hand, I didn't like in SSS or the Social Security System is that speaker was very lousy and he speaks with a very slow voice seems like he don't want to tackle his discussions.
Day 2
On the second day of our Field Trip and Seminar, We will be visiting two companies, The IBM Philippines located at Ayala Techno-hub, Quezon City, and The Accenture Inc. at Libis, Quezon City. We stayed at Kabayan Hotel for 5 days and 4 nights. We should wake up early to avoid traffic and so that we can get to our destination on time. We ate our breakfast early and prepared ourselves for the company visit. We wore business attire that day because we will be visiting a company with professionals. I was very excited that day because I really want to go to IBM since my High school days. I consider myself a very lucky person that day because we will be going at the IBM Philippines company, together with my classmates.
Today, I went on a seminar to...

We also went to the Accenture Inc. to take a tour to their company and to learn important things about innovations that will change the future into a better place.

He showed demos and some works using the cloud technology. On the other hand, I learned many things in Accenture Inc... They shared about their mobile application they are developing and how do they change the future into a better place.

I like IBM Philippines because they presented a great presentation and demo using the new innovation, the Cloud, and the speaker also shared his invention using the Cloud. I like IBM Philippines so much and I really want to work there.
On the other hand, I like Accenture Inc. because their host and speaker are not boring and I really enjoyed their presentation and games. They also shared about the mobile application that they developing. It was really nice back there.
What I didn’t like?
I didn't like IBM because we waited a long time to get in. I don't like in Y4IT because it very crowded there and our time was only limited
Day 3
On the third day of our Field Trip and Seminar, It's another day to wake up early and get ready for the next trip/seminar. We ate our delicious breakfast early and prepare ourselves for our next trip. On our itinerary, we will be attending the Y4IT convention/seminar           at SMX, MOA and we will have our shopping in the afternoon.
Today, I went on a seminar to
We attended the Y4IT convention/seminar at SMX, MOA. They are so many students like us joined the seminar it's like all of the IT students all over the Philippines. Our facilitator, Sir Randy S. Gamboa, was one of the speakers during the seminar and we are so proud to be his students. There is a speaker who shared about the science fictions that are created nowadays. There are also games and prizes back there.

What I learned?
On this seminar I learned a lot from the speakers who presented on our day 3 in manila. Each speaker has a good presentation they shared to us what they have learned and their knowledge with their field. With what I have learned to Rhea that it is not a big deal if you are a disabled person but as long as you could still works and your mind works their nothing more impossible as long as you are passionate with what are you doing everything will be possible just believe in yourself this what I have learned to the speaker from Microsoft. I learned also about him of being passionate with what are you doing and just believe in yourself to dream big and make a way to achieve it. Throughout the seminar I learned that you must be passionate with what are you doing because just like them I think I could be successful in different ways. Imagine. Innovate. Inspire.
What I liked?
What I liked on this seminar was the speakers they invited were amazing. They are very good on their field that helps us and broaden our knowledge in the I.T matter. I liked also that they had a raffle time which makes us all excited with their prizes because it was not simple they giveaways speakers, a laptop and other exciting prizes. They make us excited when they announce the starting numbers and make us more active. Though no one of our group was chosen yet we still happy.

They show us their different functions of the monitor hang on the wall. There are for weather forecasting, which it shows the current weather during that day. There is also some monitors capturing the roads situation with their CCTV cameras located in different area. After they have a short discussion regarding their operation and the history of MMDA flood and risk reduction center they show us a sample videos that they captured on the road accidents.  After our lecture we went to their shake rattle and learn center which is they let us to experience what it feels when experiencing an earthquake and what to do when you are on that situation. After having our MMDA tour we went directly to NAIA Terminal 3 to check-in our baggage before we fly to Davao. We had our lunch inside the airport and wait until our flight schedule called. When we already in the airplane , we experienced traffic it was funny to hear but it’s true after almost an hour delay we take off around 5 pm and landed at Davao around 6 pm and we went home .
What I learned?
I have learned that we should follow the rules in the road and be alert because if not we never knows it may be the end of our life.

APPENDIX
What can I recommend for the improvement of the advance seminar program of USEP?

I recommend to those who would take Major Field trip in the future that they lessen the number of company to visit and extend the time for the seminars offered by the companies. I also recommend that they request for Certificate of Attendance for every company to serve as credentials in resumes.

My advised top those who will take their advance seminar program in the near future.

I advise that the students who will take FTS to research ahead of time with regards to the backgrounds on the companies to be visited in order for them to prepare questions to ask and also the students must prepare all of needed documents as early as possible.
